What is this job about?
The Senior Portfolio Manager will serve on behalf of primarily institutional clients such as foundations, endowments and non-profit organizations. Responsible for executing trades, maintaining various performance reporting systems, portfolio rebalancing and other items necessary to prepare for and present at client meetings or answer client questions. In coordination with Client Centric Team members, responsible for assisting with developing investment policy statements, determining asset allocation, coordinating investment selection and implementation, and monitoring client portfolios to meet client objectives. Work with Client Centric Team members and Wealth Management Team leadership to ensure client portfolios are managed using industry and Greenleaf Trust best practices. This role is in-office and can be located in Grand Rapids, MI or Kalamazoo, MI.
What will you do?
- Meet with prospective and existing clients on a regular basis to maintain open communication on the status of their portfolio, the general economic and financial markets as well as the various wealth management strategies utilized within the relationship.
- Ongoing trading and performance reporting execution or oversight including account rebalancing and all other account portfolio maintenance and management of client portfolios.
- Utilize strong knowledge and suitable expertise to leverage recommendations for sophisticated and innovative approaches to managing our client's wealth.
- Collaborate with appropriate team members to complete the investment policy statement.
- Develop and recommend strategies to achieve the investment goals of clients in concert with the inhouse Research Team and the Wealth Management Team.
- Conduct all aspects involved with managing client portfolios, including executing trades, maintaining investment action plans, monitoring, and addressing overdrafts, conducting Reg. 9 investment reviews, and documenting account activities and client interaction.
- In collaboration with the in-house Research Team and Wealth Management Team, optimize after-tax portfolio performance and execution through portfolio construction and buy and sell trade recommendations.
- Meet with select clients to review investment performance and partner with the in-house Research Team and Wealth Management Team to understand market changes based on economic and industry analysis, including objectives and asset allocation models, ensuring current allocations are appropriate.
- Creatively implement and execute new investment strategies, robust risk mitigation approaches and process improvements in conjunction with the in-house Research Team and Wealth Management Team.
- Become an expert and a go-to resource for Institutional Clients (Foundations, Endowments, Nonprofits, etc.) regarding portfolio strategies and performance reporting software including Addepar.
- Provide analytic support for client projects.
- Participate in designated workgroups and projects as assigned.
- Develop and implement process improvements.
What do you need to be successful?
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum seven years' experience responding to Request For Proposals (RFPs) related to investment management, managing institutional portfolios and reporting directly to foundation, endowment and non-profit board of directors, or equivalent education and experience required.
- Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation strongly preferred.
