What Retail Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Retail Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring the correct and safe dispensing of prescription medications to the general public, in accordance with legal, ethical and professional guidelines; may also consult with and advise patients and physicians regarding prescribed and over-the-counter medications.
Responsibilities
- Applies knowledge and company policies to complete a variety of tasks
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibility
- maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications
- Works on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issues
- May assist in recommendation of processes on new assignments
- Adheres to all quality guidelines
- Works with limited supervision. Work occasionally involves review of output by work lead or supervisor
- May provide general guidance or technical assistance to less experienced team members
- Supports fulfillment team
- Processes returns, recalls and any product destruction
- Provides coaching to peers when needed and asked
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
2 years of experience, preferred
Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred (if not certified, would be required within 1 year)
Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis
Able to delegate tasks and assist in optimization of fulfillment workflow
Able to work well cross-functionally
Demonstrates clear understanding of pharmacy quality processes
