Job Summary:The Senior Manager or Payroll is responsible for all aspects of payroll including but not limited to; establishing appropriate checks and balances to ensure payroll compliance and accuracy, generating reports for the general ledger and reconciliation, and overseeing the administration of payment of wages and bonuses and other company benefits. Ensure the efficient operation of the employee data information process; including maintaining data integrity, interfacing with other third party systems and handling a high volume of confidential employee information.
Primary Responsibilities:- Critically review and analyze payroll processes in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best practice operations
- Develop the vision and structure of the Payroll function in alignment with company strategy
- Manage and guarantee bi-weekly and monthly disbursement of multi-state and international payroll consistent with federal, state and international wage and hour laws
- Ensure processing of new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations are accurate on on-time
- Effectively resolve any payroll-related issues as they arise
- Provide leadership in the coordination and implementation of the Payroll and HRIS systems including time and attendance system
- Ensure adherence to tax regulations and reporting as well as compliance of Sarbanes-Oxley
- Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports; including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end
- Communicate actively with Operations, Finance, HR and Benefits to review cross-departmental impact and reconcile data sharing
- Establish and implement consistent payroll policies processes and procedures across the company
- Accurately process bi-weekly payroll for executive staff
- Document work flow and standard operating procedures
- Manage payroll staff
- Other duties as assigned
- BS/BA in Accounting or Business Management
- Certified American Payroll Association professional preferred
- At least 10 years’ experience in high volume international and multi-state payroll processing
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and other payroll systems a plus
- Prior system conversion experience a plus
- Strong organization, influencing skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities required
- Applied knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley requirements as related to payroll processing
- Ability to build, manage and lead staff to excellent performance
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with internal and external partners and business leaders across the organization
- Ability to discreetly handle confidential matters
