About the Job
IES Residential is looking for an experienced hands-on network Engineer responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, Firewall and wireless networks.
Responsibilities:
- Engineer, configure, and lead the design, configuration and deployment of network infrastructure consisting of firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, load balancers, VoIP and other network devices and services.
- Implement network redundancy (elimination of single points of failure), high availability, and failover testing across all enterprise WAN connectivity through routine administration tasks and factoring concepts into project planning and coordination.
- Proficiency in Cisco Meraki solutions and Fortinet technologies. Most be comfortable with working in both technologies.
- Designing, configuring, installing, and supporting the network of new IES Residential field sites.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
- Develop and enforce network policies and standards.
- Monitor network health using in-house and 3rd party tools.
- Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of general IT technologies (Azure AD, Active Directory, Authentication, OKTA, O365/Email, Windows Workstations and Server, VMWare, IaaS, PaaS).
- Evaluate new network technologies and solutions to improve network performance and efficiency with a focus on strategic and scalable growth.
- Provides technical guidance, training, and may review the work of junior colleagues and peers to ensure work quality. Assess problems, generate alternative solutions and contribute to departmental performance goals.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies related to network security and management.
- Work closely with IT teams and other departments to support network-related projects and initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience as a network engineer in a professional setting.
- 6+ years’ strong technical experience with network infrastructure, and in cloud environments a plus (Azure).
- Extensive experience in EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, DNS, SNMP, SSL VPN, IPSec, DMVPN, MPLS, HSRP, TCP/UDP, and other internet associated protocols.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Involved in industry thought leadership in network technologies for data center design and operations. And have a track record of influencing and understanding the network technology space. Be aware of tech trends and opportunities in the network space.
- Track record of innovative problem-solving in cutting-edge technological contexts.
- Industry standard certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or CCIE.
- Fortinet certifications FCF, FCP, FCSS or equivalent. Preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 30% of the year.
- Strong scripting and/or automation experience – Python, Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- 3 + years in Cyber Security
- Experience with Cloud Network Engineering, responsible for providing support for all activities related to network architecture, operation, and support of the Open Cloud platform, preferably on Azure.
