Responsibilities
Peraton Labs is seeking a talented Senior Network Engineer to join our high performing team. Senior Network Engineers provide network management and support to existing Peraton projects and are the SME for the project networks. They design and plan network communications systems and are responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options and support current DevOps systems. Network Engineers plan implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network. They also advise network users on hardware requirements, configurations, limitations, and maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, bridges, gateways, etc.
What You'll Do:
- Provide for the design, engineering, technical documentation, configuration, implementation, troubleshooting, and repair of network systems (routing, switching, firewall, etc.) in a development environment.
- Monitor the networks using approved network management tools for system outages as well as the network for bottlenecks in performance; recommend improvements to management.
- Work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, requiring professional and effective interactions and communications.
- Explain technical concepts to non-technical personnel. Builds and maintains Docker registry and GitLab development instances.
- Be comfortable working individually or in small teams and on several projects.
- Configure and document all network assets in a development environment.
- Implement required hardware and software upgrades and repairs to maintain mission capability.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues.
- Lead a team of supporting network engineers on projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
- Significant relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
- Ability to read and understand a network infrastructure diagram and troubleshoot network issues.
- Ability to create and maintain detail documentation and network diagrams.
- Possess Linux/Command Line Terminal with scripting (Bash/Python) experience to include automation.
- Experience building and maintain DevOps Infrastructure (e.g., Docker, GitLab, etc.)
- Possess Network device (e.g., Cisco, Dell, Juniper, etc.) experience.
- Experience with the installation, configuration, integration and management of routers, switches, load balancers, proxies, etc.
- Must have knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of IP and core IP technologies, and advanced networking and application protocols (e.g., routing, VLANs, VPNs, switching, multicast, etc.).
- Experience supporting production network environments. Able to lift equipment over 50 lbs.
- Active Top Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph.
- U.S. Citizenship
Desired Qualifications:
- Active CCNA/CCNP certification or several years of experience with Cisco Network devices.
- Experience with Software Defined Networking and SDN Applications.
- Network administrator experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise network environments.
- Network tapping experience with copper and/or fiber taps and network aggregators.
- Proper handling of network hardware: running cables, cable crimping, usage of SFPs, and fiber networking standards.
- Advanced network protocols understanding and L2/L3 configuration experience with emphasis on dynamic routing protocols.
