Description:
Senior Network Engineer
Overview: Administer and support the company’s global data communications network, including design, development, installation, monitoring, optimization, maintenance, and support of all network hardware, software, policies, procedures, and associated systems.
Necessary Experience:
- Cisco ACI Experience: Proficiency in Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) design, configuration, and operations.
- Out of Band Management: Experience with out of band management platforms (e.g., OpenGear) for backdoor access and network management.
- Data Center Experience: Expertise in managing data centers, maintaining network and lab infrastructure, and understanding fiber and circuit management.
Responsibilities:
- Develop executable network designs based on Network Architects’ concepts and requirements.
- Document and support network designs and deployments.
- Act as the network SME for engineering, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of technologies including Azure on-ramp/express route, Azure subscription networking, Campus, Plant LAN, Wireless, WAN/SD-WAN, Datacenter LAN.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex network issues for Cloud, WAN, LAN, Voice, Video, Internet, and end-user issues.
- Communicate network maintenance, operational status, and downtime as per change management processes.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and respond to emergency network outages.
- Analyze network needs and contribute to design, architecture, integration, and installation.
- Lead project implementations, following direction from Network Architects or project leads.
- Maintain documentation of network standards, configurations, procedures, and cabling layouts.
- Collaborate with IT Security and external vendors to integrate network security into designs and operations.
- Mentor team members and promote continuous improvement.
- Monitor network capacity and performance to maximize efficiency.
- Conduct system and equipment audits.
- Recommend network design changes based on reviews, test results, and monitoring data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
- Cisco CCNP certification or extensive advanced network routing and switching experience.
- Experience with OSPF/EIGRP/Spanning Tree, BGP, and OSPF routing protocols.
- Knowledge in two or more areas: Cloud (Azure, AWS) networking, Routing and Switching, Security, Wireless, Data Center, Video/Voice, SD-WAN.
- Experience with Cisco ACI design, configuration, and operations.
- Experience with network security architecture.
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining network documentation with Visio or equivalent tools.
- Understanding of network QoS methods and strategies.
- Experience with network sniffers and performance data analysis.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
- Preferred: Cisco CCIE certification, Cisco Central Platform Management experience
