Essential Functions
Functions as a member of a highly trained & skilled Technical Services Team responsible for the design, evaluation, purchase, testing, installation & maintenance of the hardware & software for the enterprise-wide network infrastructure: necessary to ensure optimal performance of the Organization's integrated, state-of-the-art, multi-facility health system network of 3000+ users.
Performance Expectations
1.1 Under general direction, functions as a member of a highly trained & skilled Technical Services Team responsible for architecting the design, evaluation, purchase, testing, installation & maintenance of the hardware & software for the enterprise-wide network infrastructure:
Administrate, maintain, resolve and monitor overall infrastructure performance of the organization's integrated, state-of-the-art, multi-facility health system network of 3000+ users.
1.2 Under general direction, exhibits technical knowledge & experience in other critical network infrastructure components as evidenced by successful use & maintenance of multiple firewalls, UPS power systems, wireless technologies, remote access services (using management software such as TACACS) and/or other network management tools. Demonstrates technical knowledge and/or experience with other current & emerging
technologies that are network connected such as Remote Access Systems, VoIP, imaging & animationsystems. Ensure that networks and systems are secure and reliable by protecting and enforcing network boundaries, update and harden systems to prevent attacks.
1.3 Under general direction, leads new network designs & implementations as evidenced by successful network design outcomes, including use of network components, closet/room design, cabling design (fiber & copper) & environmental design (such as A/C & electrical requirements). Develops extensive documentation for new implementations as well as documentation standards for network engineers to follow.
1.4 Under general direction, monitors assigned network infrastructure components as evidenced by proficient use of monitoring tools & submitted network performance reports. Completes regularly scheduled performance maintenance & upgrades (hardware & software) for assigned network
Performance Expectations
3.1 Under general direction, utilizes technical knowledge & experience to effectively & efficiently analyze issues, diagnose problems & determine resolutions as evidenced by successful use of troubleshooting tools and software (such as network sniffers, RMON probes & analyzers) and
positive problem resolution outcomes.
3.2 Under general direction, escalate problems is a timely manner to the Technical Services Manager and/or IT Management, other IS on-call/management staff & vendors as necessary & as evidenced by problem documentation, such as HEAT downtime & or change control tickets, QA Event Analysis Documents & timely problem resolution outcomes. Serve as an escalation point for network Engineers who encounter issues.
3.3 Under general direction, documents all problem-solving measures that then properly allow for team members to resolve recurring problems effectively & efficiently.
3.4 Under general direction, demonstrates preventive maintenance capabilities as evidenced by following sound implementation procedures such as ensuring new hardware &/or software is installed, pre-configured & tested in the test bed & in pilot locations prior to a formal rollout in a production environment and (2) preventing & detecting intruder access into the network.
3.5 Under general direction, provides on-call coverage, on an as needed basis, for the Network Infrastructure Team. Provides Level Two troubleshooting support for other network service related problems. Provides preventive maintenance and implementations at business appropriate date and times as required.
Requirements:
- At least Five years of experience designing complex networks configured with high availability.
- Managing Cisco routers & switches, wireless technologies, cabling systems, firewalls, UPS power systems, SNMP.
- Experience in designing networking infrastructure, working with all aspects of configuring routers & switches, hardware &software upgrades, network protocols, LAN/WLAN/WAN based networks.
- Eight years' experience designing complex networks configured with high availability.
- Managing WLAN & VoIP networks, Unix/Linux, Aruba wireless technology, remote access services, network management/monitoring, Palo Alto firewalls, and Mobile Device Management
- Deep knowledge in Routing protocols – IGRP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, as well as, familiarity of Fabric SDN.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or commensurate equivalent.
- Network design, Cisco routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, IDS, CiscoWorks, WLSE, and High Availability redundant designing.
- Experience in complex infrastructure projects both as a lead and technical resource.
- Skills in working with desktop devices (PCs, printers, VTs) & windows operating system.
- Exhibits strong task & project management Strong teamwork abilities with multiple IS groups & departmental user groups.
- Skills required to ensure tasks & projects are completed in a successful & timely manner.
- Exhibits a strong ability to resolve problems effectively & efficiently to ensure minimal disruptions & unplanned downtimes of hospital systems.
- Exhibits strong oral & written communication skills necessary to communicate (technically & non-technically) with team members, other IT professional staff, IT management, users & vendors to ensure successful & cooperative completion of tasks & projects & to resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Exhibits ability to successfully perform administrative responsibilities necessary to comply with Organization & IS policies, procedures & standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
