Summary:
The Senior Mortgage Consultant develops relationships with referral sources outside of the credit union to obtain 1st mortgage business that otherwise would not be available to the credit union.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Procure 1st mortgage loans through resources outside of the credit union, such as but not limited to, Real Estate Agents, Builders, Financial Advisors, etc.
- Cross sell other credit union products while bringing on new members.
- Collect personal information accessing member’s credit, income, financial history and ability to explain the loan process to applicants.
- Utilize multiple mortgage related software programs to determine member’s ability to borrow and pay back the mortgage obligation.
- Promote honest and open communication with the member and throughout the credit union.
- Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit union’s values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.
- Work with other credit union departments to insure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in a 100% commissioned sales position in the mortgage lending space.
- Proof of mortgage production history may be required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient knowledge of all mortgage loan products.
- Proficient knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA/VA/USDA Guidelines.
- Working knowledge of Origination Software Systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be able to be bonded.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to project a high degree of professionalism and positive image of themselves and the credit union.
- Demonstrates a proficiency of sales aptitude, strategies and techniques.
- Must be willing and able to implement a Business/Marketing plan.
- Must have or be able to obtain NMLS Registration and complete required annual training to maintain registration.
