We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Senior Mining Expert (Geochemistry or Hydrogeology). This role will leverage your expertise in water management, mining geochemistry, mine waste management, pit lake management, model design, and groundwater modeling. You will play a critical role in our organization, delivering key insights and optimizing our mining operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment where your ideas will be heard and your skills will have a significant impact.
Responsibilities:
1. Apply your expertise in water management, mining geochemistry, mine waste management, and pit lake management to optimize our mining operations and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
2. Develop and implement innovative model designs for groundwater modeling to predict and manage water flows and quality within the mining environment.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide expert advice on the environmental aspects of mine planning, development, and closure.
4. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to manage potential environmental impacts.
5. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
6. Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations in mining geochemistry and hydrogeology.
7. Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure the cost-effectiveness of mining operations and environmental management strategies.
Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Geochemistry, Hydrogeology, or a related field. A Master's degree or Ph.D. would be a plus.
2. A minimum of 8 years of experience in mining geochemistry or hydrogeology, with a focus on water management, mine waste management, pit lake management, model design, and groundwater modeling.
3. Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and developing environmental management strategies in the mining industry.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
5. Strong leadership skills, with experience in mentoring and developing junior team members.
6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
7. Proficiency in using advanced geochemical and hydrogeological modeling software.
8. Familiarity with the financial and accounting aspects of mining operations would be an advantage.
