About the Job
Amentum is currently seeking qualified Sr. Mechanical (Marine) Engineers to support a NAVSEA Contract and be a member of the Marine Engineering Group. The Marine Engineering Group is the Navy's technical authority for machinery systems for all surface ships, aircraft carriers and submarine classes - including but not limited to developing and designing, evaluating and assessing, analyzing and establishing standards and risks, and demonstrating and implementing new marine system technologies. The marine systems include electrical systems, motors, controls, energy storage, battery system certification, mechanical and hydraulic systems, power generation, shafting, mounting gear, handling equipment, and fluid systems.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Sr. Mechanical (marine) Engineer will provide support in the following areas:
- Provides expert consultation in one or more areas for the design, development and implementation of technical products, systems and draft guidance and policy under Government directions.
- Resolves highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
- Has extensive engineering knowledge and is considered an expert in one or more engineering specialties.
- Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.
- Communicate goals in solution or project goal terms.
- May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 years of experience and Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering field or related area.
- Must be able to design, analyze, evaluate, process assessments, root cause analysis, establish and maintain specifications and standards, and evaluate risk
- Must have extensive engineering knowledge and is considered an expert in one or more engineering specialties.
- Must have an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
