The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead and mentor team members, guiding them in their tasks while overseeing budgeting, scheduling and staff management. The Senior Mechanical Engineer vitalizes a key role in designing energy-efficient, sustainable HVAC and plumbing systems. Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Current Professional Engineering License
• A minimum of 5 Years as a Licensed Professional Engineer
• Ability to obtain Professional Licensure in the State of Texas
• 10+ Years experience of Electrical Design, specifically in Municipal/Aviation, Education, Healthcare and Commercial Office sectors
• 7+ Years of managed MEP Design experience
• 3+ Years of Project Management experience
• 3+ years of Supervisory experience directly over an MEP design team
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and background check is required.
Typical Duties
• Assumes Engineer of Record role for Mechanical and Plumbing disciplines
• Provide overall direction for the MEP design team from inception to completion on a project-specific basis
• Develop, maintain and monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure on-time, quality and on-budget project execution
• Responsible for the designs and development of HVAC and plumbing systems
• Performs and verifies load calculations for HVAC and plumbing systems
• Perform CA tasks, review submittals/shop drawings, respond to RFIs and attend CA meetings
• Conduct site visits to evaluate field installations and conduct field observations
• Manage assigned projects including coordination and/or direction for the design team from inception to completion on a project-specific basis
• Plan, schedule, conduct and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work while maintaining quality standards on all projects
• Lead design and construction meetings
• Mentor junior team members and assign duties to design staff
• Provide Periodic objective and comprehensive employee check-ins in support of Annual Performance Reviews
• Prepare and monitor contracts, fee proposals and contract negotiations
• Collaborate with Business Development to build relationships and foster repeat work
• Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
