Summary:

Rogers Corporation currently has an opening for a Sr Mechanical Engineer in Narragansett, RI.
The Sr Mechanical Engineer will have primary design responsibility for small to large-scale capital projects in support of new product development, capacity expansion, and EH&S. This person will provide technical support to operations for process improvements, and when equipment malfunctions.
Essential Functions:
- Design mechanical systems to replace and/or expand upon existing production equipment.
- Prepare the necessary 3D models, mechanical drawings and P&ID's as required.
- Troubleshoot component and complex system issues involving motors, pumps, flow meters, mixers, gear reducers and pneumatics.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
- Manages all activities associated with external contractors including selection, design of scope of work, monitoring of on-site contractor personnel, coordination of internal resources, conflict resolution, monitoring and management of schedule, approving of payments and communication of changes.
- Coordinates capital projects from project planning through project completion including writing of the project, project leadership, vendor selection, equipment specifications, and presentation to stakeholders and overseeing of 3rd party design.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Provides timely communication to manager and other appropriate stakeholders on the status of all current projects.
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years' experience designing systems engineering experience
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor, AutoCAD to create 3D parts, large assemblies, mechanical prints, and work with factory layouts
- Project management with proficiency with MS Project or similar software
- Ability to travel domestically 10-25%, and occasionally internationally up to 10%
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience
- Project management certifications
- Knowledge of complete product/part development process from concept to production
- Familiarity with web handling, calerending, converting or chemical delivery systems
- Knowledge of six sigma or shainin problem solving principles
