About the Job
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing client projects and performing technical calculations to prepare mechanical deliverables. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assuring quality and timely completion of engineering designs and reports. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer should be comfortable in interfacing with the clients, visiting clients' facilities and performing physical work such as walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing stairs/ladders. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer reports to the Mechanical Discipline Manager.
Responsibilities
- Developing project scope including P&ID development and equipment selection
- Collection and presentation of key data/information
- Detailed engineering calculations
- Technical specifications & datasheets
- Calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews.
- Technical evaluation of bids
- Recommendation of best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability and safety.
- Assistance in field work, checking installations, and problem-solving activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required
- PE Certification desired
- Advanced degree a plus
- Active participation in professional organizations a plus
- At least 10+ years' experience with boilers, pumps, exchangers and pressure vessels
- Project lead experience developing engineering schedules, budgets and forecasts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams and to present a positive image to clients
- Working knowledge of or familiarity with:
- Microsoft Office products including MS Project
- AutoCAD and 3-D CAD a plus
- Mechanical Engineering design tools and calculations (PV Elite, Navisworks, Caesar, NozzlePro)
- Industry Standards such as API, ASME, ASTM, PIP
