COMPENSATION: $120,000 – $140,000/yr

Role Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be working on medical device development as part of a tight knit development team. This role is multi-disciplinary with responsibility for designing and selecting parts for the instrument as well as designing test fixtures for development. The ideal candidate would have work experience in leading an engineering team that is building a medical device through all stages of concept to production. We are looking for a team player who views medical device development as a competitive advantage.
- Designing precision motion stages and components, electromechanical system parts and assemblies in CAD environment. SolidWorks preferred
- Generating drawings for parts and assemblies
- Documentation as per FDA and Company SOP requirements
- Modeling and simulation of design components, such as dynamic system modeling, kinematic modeling, structural, and thermal analysis
- Building prototypes
- Supporting production tasks, such as inspections, trouble-shooting assemblies and testing
- Writing and updating work instructions per production and quality feedback
- Finding and managing vendors for prototyping and manufacturing
- Creating test fixtures including instrumenting with data acquisition systems and programming.
- Unit and system testing of prototype designs
- Supporting production for method sheet creation, tooling, and process qualification
- Mentoring junior engineers to help in their growth and development
- Role may require some travel
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering or in an equivalent area
- 6+ years of experience in the field
- Exposure to software such as Python, MATLAB, C++, HTML
- Design experience for gantry systems and motion systems
- Design experience with custom flexible features such as spring
- Competency in designing large electromechanical systems
- Experience with large assembly models
- Experience with troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems
- Proven design record
- Analytical problem solution skills, such as modeling and simulations
- Ability to project manage large assembly projects from concept to production
- Ability to plan, prepare and perform all aspects of product development from ideation to modeling to making production-level drawings, testing and production ramp-up
- Understanding of Linux systems and comfortable with utilizing in-house software for testing and debugging
- Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and design for PCB fixturing and enclosures
- Strong technical skills in hardware design and working with electrical and software teams
- Proficient with 3D modeling software
- Experience with PDM and PLM systems
- Design for automation experience
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Flexibility to work in a changing and fast paced environment
- Drive, determination, and ability to hit aggressive milestones/deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
