Card-Monroe Automation, a world class leader in custom industrial automation and machine design, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. These talented and innovative individuals will be responsible for helping develop and build robust mechanical designs for complex turn-key automation cells & systems for supporting our diverse customers' requirements & specifications.
Reports to: ME Manager
Responsibilities:
- Use SolidWorks for conceptualization & developing final designs of custom machines & automated turnkey systems.
- Collaboration with other engineering functions to gather and document the necessary design requirements and specifications.
- Verify that mechanical designs meet all the functional requirements & specifications.
- Able to accurately calculate and determine adequate structural strength, gearmotors, electrical & pneumatic actuators sizing requirements.
- Maintain the project scope to prevent scope and budget creep.
- Apply (DFM) Design for Manufacturing methodology to design concepts.
- Perform design reviews across all disciplines and customers as required.
- Develop Sequence of Events and Cycle Timing charts/projections.
- Creating detailed drawings and bills of materials using SolidWorks
- Support development of FMEA's and Safety Risk Assessments.
- Provide technical support for sales and applications.
- Estimating accurate mechanical engineering budgets.
- Complete projects on time and within budget.
- Releasing projects to manufacturing & purchasing using Total ETO.
- Reviewing and addressing engineering change requests as they arise.
- Able to delegate and oversee tasks to other supporting engineers on the team.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in mechanical engineering or 10+ years of experience in custom machine design/industrial automation equipment.
Minimum Previous Experience:
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in mechanical engineering with minimum of 5 years' of professional experience in machine or automation design.
- Experience with machining, welding, and assembly methods and processes.
Minimum Additional Training:
- Strong proficiency using SolidWorks and PDM Professional.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, & Teams
Other Skills:
- Collaborative design and problem solving with other functions and all levels of the organization.
- Experience using ERP systems with SolidWorks and PDM.
