Job Description:
Immediate need for a Senior-level Mechanical Engineer with proven interest in building design and sound knowledge of mechanical and HVAC engineering fundamentals. Main responsibilities involve designing heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, and related mechanical equipment for building design in the DC office.
Responsibilities:
- Design all mechanical equipment for building design including and particularly HVAC – heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning, systems and equipment.
- Perform all necessary calculations to support mechanical design.
- Prepare Construction Documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings (in government, education, historic and institutional market sectors)
- Work closely with the client and other design team members, including owners, architects, contractors, and members of other disciplines.
- Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate equipment for use in building systems.
- Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
- 8 to 15 years of professional experience in designing mechanical systems for commercial/institutional/government building projects.
- Strong Revit or AutoCAD capabilities.
- EIT or PE license desired but not required; desire to obtain a license; LEED Accreditation desirable.
- Previous mechanical/HVAC design experience with an AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
- Strong fundamental understanding of national, international, and local Building Codes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering – PE desired but not required
