We are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our office located in Emeryville, California.
In this role, you will work independently on various projects as assigned by the Director of Mechanical Engineering.
What You'll Do
- Assess project requirements, break projects into tasks, and work with Project Managers to determine the scope of work while overseeing budget and staffing where appropriate.
- Write scopes of work for mechanical designs (including equipment, utilities, and process pipework systems) based on preliminary review and client meetings.
- Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new equipment, utilities, and process pipework systems and analyze the operation of existing systems.
- Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to design standards.
- Conduct and review the work of the project design teams, check the progress of the work, and alert Project Managers of scope changes or additional services.
- Review contractor applications for payments and maintain an understanding of the construction process associated with equipment, utilities, and process pipework systems.
- Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within IPS, externally with clients, and with other relevant design professionals.
- Prepare or review construction budgets based on the project scope.
- Develops and promotes the use of IPS design and production standards.

The salary offered for this role is between $120,000-$180,000, but actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set and education.
Qualifications & Requirements:- 8+ years of proven mechanical design experience within Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Sciences or Laboratory industries (industry experience).
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Equipment, utilities, and process pipework system design experience.
