Job Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer designs and enhances industrial material handling systems, working closely with the overall project team to design systems that exceed the project requirements. Uses creativity and innovation to tailor the standard product offering to meet customer needs. Provides direct instruction and mentoring for less-senior team members.
Responsibilities
- Designs and enhances conveyor systems, various automated and semi-automated material handling systems, static and dynamic storage systems, mezzanines, and modules
- Manages and leads projects, including planning and organizing work, developing and maintaining schedules, tracking, forecasting, and reporting on project financials, enforcing company safety standards, and ensuring success
- Estimates costs and develops bills of material for proposals and orders
- Prepares, reviews, and coordinates drawings for proposals, approvals, and installation
- Generates AutoCAD drawings from instructions and sketches
- Provides direction, training and mentoring to less-senior team members
- Travels to project sites up to 25%
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience
- Knowledge of industrial automation, including conveyor applications and equipment
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Ability to lead projects and teams
- Strong project management skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and listening skills
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
- Team-oriented and collaborative
