Senior Mechanical Engineer - Conception to Reality Inc

Conception to Reality Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Westminster, Colorado (80031).

About the role:

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Director of Engineering in effectively generating the Mechanical Engineering deliverables agreed to by CTR and the customer.  The top priorities of this job are to generate project documents (scope, schedule and budget), create conceptual layout drawings, maintain vendor relationships, and develop and improve company standards.

What you'll do:

• Manage multiple ongoing customer projects through to completion, including:
  • Assist the Project Managers and Director of Engineering in defining projects
  • Assist the Director of Engineering in assigning responsibilities and managing personnel accordingly
  • Conduct site audits
  • Create as-built and conceptual layout drawings
  • Generate scope-of-work documents
  • Manage project schedule using internal and external resources
  • Generate and send “Request for Quotation” packages to vendors and mechanical and electrical contractors
  • Compare vendor quotations, generate comparisons, and assist the customer in awarding a contract
  • Create site book and bid book documents
  • Coordinate and conduct on-site bid meetings with mechanical contractors
  • Review and ensure that contractor quotations are correct
  • Oversee the development of vendor quotations and present to the Director of Engineering
  • May assist in developing a budget and managing budget
  • Perform engineering calculations as they relate to equipment performance and utility requirements
• Maintain company standards and make recommendations for improvements

• Train and supervise Mechanical Engineers I & II: prioritize employee activity based on changing project requirements and demands; assign daily and weekly task completion lists
• Research companies and machinery within the industry to become familiar with new processes and technologies
• Create efficiency improvements

Our ideal candidate:

Education and experience

• B.S Degree in Engineering is required, Mechanical preferred, Industrial or other considered
• At least five years of relevant experience in a high-speed packaging manufacturing, or system design environment
• Mechanical engineering knowledge with design engineering and project management background
• Manufacturing field experience, especially in the food and beverage industry, is strongly preferred
• A background in a production environment is preferred
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD
• 10-20% travel expected to client sites, depending on project needs
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
• Experience with developing permit drawings for submittal to city & county plan checks
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Ability to operate successfully with minimal supervision
• Outstanding written skills
• Exceptional organization and time management skills
• Excellent technical skills and knowledge of manufacturing project planning, process systems, equipment, and operations
• Ability to build and maintain successful relationships both internally and externally
• Ability to work well within all levels of the client company
• Ability to resolve problems, make decisions and be creative to keep activities moving forward toward a positive result
• Ability to create and update Gantt chart-style schedules
• Ability to read, interpret and mark up manufacturing line drawings
• Ability to create a project plan, using logical thinking
• Ability to successfully prioritize and execute against an organized plan
• Ability to read, interpret and mark up manufacturing line drawings is a plus

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or walk for long periods of time (6-8 hours); climb stairs and ladders and navigate all areas of a construction zone and functioning plant environment; operate measuring equipment; work at a computer; talk and hear, and to comply with all safety regulations. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The work usually is performed in an office environment, occasionally in a manufacturing or construction environment, with frequent travel to sites required.  The manufacturing environment is usually noisy and may be hot, cold, and/or wet.  Long and off-shift hours are occasionally required.  Safety shoes, safety vests, and safety glasses, as well as ear protection, are required when on-site at client manufacturing or construction locations.  Hair nets and beard nets are also required when on-site at client manufacturing locations.
