Senior Manufacturing Process Development Engineer
Main purpose of the role:
- Specialist professional individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge in the area of Manufacturing Process Development.
- Ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects.
- Senior Manufacturing Process Development Engineer adapts precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.
Main Responsibilities:
- As the Specialist in the Manufacturing Process Development Sub-Function, considered as a highly experienced and knowledgeable resource within the organization in designing and developing manufacturing processes for life sciences products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing.
- Such design and development may include new or revised processes.
- Develops procedures for economical mass production in cooperation with the pilot plant and production departments.
- Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables.
- Senior Manufacturing Process Development Engineer services, troubleshoots, and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
- Requires understanding of compliance, pharmaceutical, pharmacological, biological, biochemical, medical, patent, and commercial factors.
- May make recommendations concerning the acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (± 16 years) Engineering or related.
- Minimum 6 years of related experience.
Manufacturing Process Engineer
Main Purpose of Junior Role:
- The Manufacturing Process Engineer performs analyses to develop design specifications and performance requirements.
- Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process (advantages/limitations) engineering planning.
- Select techniques to solve problems and make sound design recommendations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Establish processes based on product specifications.
- Evaluate process and design alternatives based on Design for Manufacturability principles.
- Understand principles of Cost of Goods Sold”.
- The Manufacturing Process Engineer manages program compliance with Quality Control requirements (i.e. Design Control, Process validation etc.).
- Understand IP issues relative to processes being developed.
- Maintain knowledge of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.
- Understand work environment issues (i.e. OSHA regulations, etc.).
- Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Job Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree (± 16 years) Engineering or Technical Field.
- Minimum 3 years of Engineering experience.
- Experience designing and testing medical devices preferred.
- Experience developing manufacturing processes and technologies and designing for manufacturability preferred.
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model is preferred.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to travel including internationally.
