WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Reviewing manufacturing requirements, setting priorities, monitoring progress, and providing needed direction for the assigned engineering group.
- In addition to this, reviews and approves related ECN's, BOM's, and process problem forms as well as provides appropriate feedback to assigned engineering group.
- Select the best process for new and special products to be produced by the assigned area of manufacturing. Designs required tooling and acquires it. Works closely with the assigned area of manufacturing, Application/Process Engineering, company Tool Room, and Quality personnel during prototype production.
- Develops processes to improve product quality and manufacturing productivity. Combines research and practical judgement to select, for further investigation, those suggestions with the greatest potential for productivity improvements.
- Keeps informed with new industry developments in order to serve as a consultant to management regarding the positive direction of process changes, equipment purchases and plant expansions.
- Reviews manufacturing requirements, sets work priorities, monitors progress, and provides needed direction relative to the engineering support of the assigned area of manufacturing. Reviews and approves submitted ECN's and provides the group with appropriate feedback relative to its 'productivity.
- Subject matter expert of tooling design, implementation, and analysis.
- Thorough understanding of: metallurgy, heat treat processes, manufacturing processes specific to fasteners, surface finishing, and industry specific standards.
- Productivity Improvement
- Strives to improve tool life.
- Tracks tool life and makes suggestions for improvements in tool design, method of tool manufacture, tool material, and heat treatment.
- Facilitates experimentation by providing detail drawings and working with Tool Room or outside vendors to obtain experimental tools.
- Assists shop personnel in assembly of tools and the running of tool life studies.
- Documents results and works with cost accountants to analyze results on the basis of total product cost.
- Strives to reduce setup time in the assigned area of manufacturing
- Suggests and implements tool and hardware changes which will reduce time required for tool change overs and machine adjustments.
- Develops documentation aides which will reduce setup time for re-occurring jobs.
- Assists Manufacturing with studies of optimum machine conditions to attain best production.
- Provides Engineering assistance to the assigned area of manufacturing, as needed, to maintain acceptable production levels.
- Strives to improve tool life.
- Product Quality Improvement
- Strives to improve process capability when required product tolerances and SPC techniques indicate the need.
- Suggests tooling design changes and facilitates experimentation by providing detail drawings of experimental tools.
- Suggests and facilitates experimentation with process enhancements such as better lubricants, raw material changes, and machine adjustments.
- Suggests product design changes which will improve the product's quality performance and be easier to manufacture.
- Strives to improve process capability when required product tolerances and SPC techniques indicate the need.
- Long Range Facility, Equipment, and Process Improvements
- Provides engineering assistance with selection, installation and startup of new equipment.
- Provides input and analysis to management enabling them to make informed decisions on the following.
- Keeps informed of new industry developments by reviewing trade journals and attending shows, conventions and seminars.
- Perform other duties as required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in a manufacturing Engineering environment.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in tooling design
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in project management
