ROLE SUMMARY
The SunGrid Solutions, Senior Manager, O&M services role is responsible for management leadership and program development contributions to the company’s North American O&M program with a focus on Southern and Western USA. This includes participating in and driving business development and sales efforts, supporting the build-out of proposals, building a team to service the region. Management level collaboration on the roll-out of business processes and management communications that include technician time management and coaching, customer service execution in the region. Management of field service team requirements and regular business decisions which assure P&L targets and excellent customer services is delivered.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing operational business responsibilities (years 1 and 2 = 50%ish of time, then slides up into 2026 but will continue to have a clear and required BD role).
- Ownership and management of P&L for defined regions which roles up to overall southern and western USA region
- Managing and development of team members to achieve employee potential and meet company objectives
- Work closely with Technical Services management and training team to ensure team field practices are in line with Technical Services departmental as well as industry standards and procedures ongoing and where able, support technical services with technical support requirements.
- Track employees performance as it relates to technical, quality standards along with established financial targets and ensure very regular communication regarding these standards and targets is happening between yourself and your team members
- Action the needs of hiring team members. Contribute to overall annual budget creation process (OPEX and CAPEX) and provide monthly P&L status updates along with reforecasting requirements when requested
- Prioritize and embody world class health, safety and environment practices are followed in conjunction with supporting team members from within SunGrid and external as required
- Prioritization of team efforts and actions to deliver customer services in line with the BESS and PV Solar O&M services marketplace and customer agreements
- Negotiate and resolve customer issues when they arise and ensure correct team support from within the SunGrid O&M technical services or engineering support teams
- Support technical services team in negotiations to obtain employee training for SunGrid employees and required contractors from market OEMs
- Form and develop relationships with subcontractor partners in regions as required to enable new markets to be entered or service specific needs to be met where required
- Formal management of the performance of employees on the team
- Issues, action items and task requirements tracked in company systems and process ongoing
Business Development contributions– years 1 and 2, will be approximately 50% of time, then slides downward into 2026, but will continue on in years to come. At SunGrid, all leaders within the O&M business shall contribute to efforts relating to adding customers and new business.
- Contributor to business development efforts in defined USA market and support other opportunities when called upon
- Ongoing research and self-start efforts to become a North American energy storage and Solar PV market technologies and services expert using internal SunGrid team resources and available market information through OEMs, industry associations and networking
- Contribution to and at times ownership of proposal reviews and responses including, including pricing
- Work closely with dedicated SunGrid BD team and estimators to ensure timely and accurate pricing for O&M program proposals
- Provide senior management representation on potential client meetings for services proposals on in person, remote and at conference events
- Set revenue and customer acquisition targets and provide regular progress on targets.
- Contribute to strategic plans and relationship building in the market that allow for SunGrid to gain O&M / field services market share
Process and Organization Development Support (ongoing contribution to continuous process improvements):
- Contribute to process improvements and definitions in line with best practice service business delivery
- Contribute Recommend, budget, and execute on organization structure team growth that meet business targets including Capital and OPEX equipment and initiative spend requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years or more supervising or managing field service technicians in the utility / industrial power sector with a track record or progress
- Hands on experience in maintaining, commissioning or servicing power generation assets
- High Energy, action oriented & positive team player
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Experience with or strong working knowledge of SCADA, PLC and protection and control systems
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent related experience and skills
- Strong knowledge of grid-tied power generation assets and utility interaction requirements
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly
- Willingness to travel
- This role can be remote in nature with travel to technician operating regions, SunGrid's US HQ is in Houston, TX and candidate should expect to come to this office somewhat regularly (if coming to Houston office weekly is not possible).
