Talon recruiting has partnered with a global coal mining company.We are in search of a Senior Manager of Engineering – Underground Mining to join their corporate team in St. Louis, MO.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Mine Planning, this role will be supporting the company's global mining operations by managing delivery of mine planning and engineering services across the organization. This will include all UG services pertaining to LOM planning, design, development, improvement, operating and closure. The role will require travel as it is actively interfacing with on-site personnel such as the Technical Services Managers, General Managers, Study Managers and others.

Compensation:

Duties will include:
- Contribute to a sustainable safety culture.
- Develop corporate Mining Engineering standards, processes and ensure compliance through regular audits to ensure safe working practices and maintain documentation.
- Accountable for standards to guide the LOM and medium-term planning processes
- Regular review and audit of key in-put parameters (physicals and Financials) into LOM and medium-term models and outputs for accuracy and logic.
- Liaise with mine-site personnel to gain the best integration between short, medium and long-term planning scheduling and design.
- Investigate technology improvements in planning delivery and assist sites with benchmarking
- Provide global support for all UG Mining Engineering solutions ex. Ventilation, Strata, Gas and reservoir modelling etc.
- Development and Mentorship of technical personnel in all Mine Planning roles across the US & Australian platform
- Assist with any special projects that arise within the Technical Services Group.
- Provide training and guidance to site technical staff and peers in implementation of new standards and practices.
- Undertake analysis of mining operations through Benchmarking and Reconciliation to improve Operational performance and/or Mining Model performance.

About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (Req)
- Relevant commercial degree/diploma in resource evaluation (Pref)
- At least 5 years in a senior management position
- At least 5 years underground coal mine experience preferred
- At least 10 years in an operational/technical mining position
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Innovative thinker
- Experienced in use of mine planning software (XPAC,and Vulcan preferred)
