About the Role:

The Bioinformatics, BioPharma team at Guardant Health is focused on partnerships with leading KOL, biotech, and pharma companies that are at the forefront of cancer therapeutics and diagnostics. In this role, you will help lead the bioinformatics and data analysis in support of emerging technologies with various oncology applications. You will be working with a number of BioPharma and clinical customers to tailor personalized analyses for each organization and tackle some of the most interesting biological and technical questions related to comprehensive genotyping, minimal residual disease, cancer monitoring, and recurrence detection.

You will contribute to oncology project initiatives in-house, including the development of novel bioinformatic and analytical methods. As a part of the Bioinformatics and BioPharma teams, you will have the opportunity to innovate and implement your ideas to constantly improve our emerging technology products and analytics so that they are best suited for the changing landscape of BioPharma needs.

You will work closely with multiple teams across Guardant Health, including Bioinformatics, Medical Affairs, Software, Business Development, Technology Development, and Operations. You will gain first-hand experience working with experts in each of these areas to accomplish projects related to Guardant Health’s BioPharma business. You will work together with our collaborators in industry, hospitals, and academia on high-impact translational research and publish your findings. You will have access to the unprecedented compendium of data collected at Guardant Health and you will be able to (and should be excited to!) leverage this data for tumor biology and technological insights.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership, effective management, organization, and timely direction to staff.
• Executes programs and projects supporting the development of robust bioinformatics and software pipelines in support of RUO product offering.
• Develops and implements bioinformatics analyses, applications, and workflows to expand Guardant Health’s genomic and bioinformatics capabilities.
• Recommends new systems and processes to improve operations.
• Works collaboratively with scientists to comprehend project objectives, analyze problems, and evaluate and provide informatics solutions.
• Communicates research results through presentations and project reports as well as scientific publications.
• Systematically leverages external innovation, ideas, and expertise to address technological gaps and advance Guardant Health’s business.

• PhD in bioinformatics, genomics or related fields
• 5 years of increasing responsibilities in technical leadership and/or management in the molecular diagnostics industry with a proven record of developing CLIA, CAP, and NYSDOH regulated products.
• Extensive knowledge of molecular biology and cancer genomics
• Expertise in scripting languages including Python and Linux shell environment
  • Bonus: experience developing novel/custom algorithms for the interpretation of NGS data
• Excellent data analysis skills and working knowledge of statistical methods
• Experience with NGS data and the landscape of bioinformatics tools
  • Bonus: direct experience with epigenomic data
• Desire and ability to dig deeply through various data types to seek out answers
• Great communication and presentation skills, ability to present clearly and effectively to stakeholders across organizations
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, delivering high quality results under tight timelines
• Ability to synthesize high-level concepts, drive projects forward, while maintaining attention to detail
• Strong team player: ability to work together with your team as well as cross-functionally and even across institutions, to accomplish your goals

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $103,600 to $160,000. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations for the posted role with the exception of any locations specifically referenced below (if any).

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000 to $200,000. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
