This is a leadership position in SCE’s Energy Procurement and Management organization that is responsible for procuring and managing SCE’s large generation portfolio which includes new renewable energy, new energy storage resources, and conventional energy.
Responsibilities
+ Oversees trading strategies that are in compliance with the company's risk management guidelines and procedures to maximize company's profit margin
+ Confirms and approves optimal purchase timings, prices, quantities and delivery modes, and creates optimal daily nomination strategies
+ Owns the analysis and review of short-term electricity market conditions and operational considerations, developing trading thesis and proposing strategies for the energy trading head
+ Integrates and champions innovative service offerings and product development roadmap, find new market opportunities, and work internally to set specifications and carry out service development
+ Defines strategic direction and directs the effective execution of utilities financial transactions such as swaps and options, in alignment with the company's hedging and optimization programs, while managing the overall risk profile
+ Steers contributions to the development of portfolio and bidding strategies
+ Shapes and influences collaboration with cross-functional business units to translate objectives and requirements to support corporate initiatives
+ Leads large scale E/CTRM products implementation across commodities throughout Trading value chain in deal capture, risk, scheduling and nominations, settlements and accounting and should be able to architect solution for clients
+ Decides on the validation of key market assumptions with market data and track asset performance. Researches and quantifies deviations between forecast, budget and actual results
+ Confirms generation schedules by taking into consideration market information and transmission related constraints
+ A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
+ Experience in utility, commodity or energy power trading.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Science, Economics, Math, Engineering or related field.
+ Five years of experience in utility, commodity, or energy power trading.
+ Experience in natural gas trading and scheduling.
+ Experience in emissions allowance/ offsets procurement.
+ Experience developing and implementing hedging strategies.
Additional Information
+ This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
