Job DescriptionWe have an opening for a Senior Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
The Senior Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is responsible for working with the Managing Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to manage the Firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, including the development of practices to recruit, retain and promote diverse attorneys, and coordination of firm efforts to support an inclusive culture.
In this capacity, the Senior Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will:
- Manage responses to client requests and industry benchmarking surveys involving qualitative and quantitative information;
- Collaborate with Talent Management Solutions team for industry surveys, client requests and to track and report on demographics, trends and statistics at the firm and in the legal industry;
- Assist with the Firm’s diversity hiring efforts, to include the Diversity Fellowship, and collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Stakeholders to identify and maintain a pipeline of Diversity Fellows, diverse summer associate hires and diverse lateral candidates;
- Interface and create accountability around DEI efforts with attorneys across various departments and offices;
- Keep abreast of industry DEI trends and innovations in legal industry and beyond regarding the professional development and advancement of diverse attorneys;
- Manage external diversity sponsorships and membership relationships, to include identifying participants and coordinating all details;
- Strengthen partnerships with various diversity-focused organizations and publicize opportunities to diverse attorneys;
- Responsible for executing strategy of PH affinity networks, ensuring alignment with firm overall goals, including global programming;
- Serves as subject matter expert to support managing director in strategy execution;
- Support communications by drafting content for, and updating, applicable promotional materials, including print and online communications;
- Working with Marketing and Communications on branding, messaging, website, social media and communications campaigns;
- Coordinate with the DEI team to develop the DEI budget and track department spend;
- Acts with a high degree of integrity and discretion handling confidential employee information; exercises good judgment at all times with respect to data privacy, security and all Firm policies and procedures; and
- All other duties as assigned or required.
Proficiencies:
- Strong knowledge of DEI better practices in the legal or professional services industry;
- Strong analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a fast paced department;
- Able to think proactively, identify problems and solutions, analyze and establish priorities, and exhibit a high level of self-initiative and meet set deadlines;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to leverage internal and external relationships to achieve goals;
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the Firm;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; solid writer, editor, and proofreader;
- Demonstrated experience with data analysis, including the ability to present and report on data;
- Creative and determined approach to problem-solving, with ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize work, someone who can both lead teams and serve as a supportive team member;
- Collaborative team player with a strong customer service orientation and drive to create a positive work environment within a global, matrix Firm; and
- Strong MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Workday), and other Internet/Intranet applications.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Human Resources or other Business related field;
- At least 4+ years’ experience in DEI (required);
- At least 10 years of work experience (preferred); and
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience (required).
