Description:
Our client is actively seeking an immediate Resident Engineer for the PANYNJ headquarters at the World Trade Center reporting to the Chief Engineer of Construction. The Resident Engineer will manage the scope of work, scheduling, and the contractor’s field procedures. The Resident Engineer will ensure that all involved contribute to the successful delivery of the project within budget and schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the day-to-day construction manager for assigned projects, reporting the Engineer of Construction.
- Assist the Engineer of Construction with coordinating with facility forces to advance work in the most efficient manner possible while least impacting facility operations.
- Understand ongoing contracts to assist the Engineer of Construction with administering and enforcing policies necessary to complete projects.
- Advise the Engineer of Construction of contractor disputes and help resolve.
- Oversee the field staff, ensuring that they are properly carrying out their functions of ensuring proper installation and advancement of construction and that they are filing the proper documentation.
- Review contractor payments assisting the Engineer of Construction with reporting monthly on construction progress.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering.
- MINIMUM of 10 or more years of experience in construction management on various size projects.
- Familiar with construction documents.
- Familiar with all applicable specifications and codes.
- OSHA 30-hour certification required.
- Familiarity with NYC building codes.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A PE License is desirable but not required.
- Ability to work late, come in early, and/or work weekends.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably a Civil Engineering degree.
