Client:
Our client is an international firm providing professional and technical support services to public and private sector clients. Their expertise includes government and institutional facilities, bridge and highway construction, transportation design and commercial and residential building facilities construction/maintenance. They use their extensive knowledge to restore and replace aging infrastructure across cities, countries, and continents. Recent projects include a new subway line in New York City, the world's largest green-field port development in Qatar, a 24-kilometer sea crossing in Malaysia and the expansion of LA International Airport. Over five-thousand Architects and 75,000 Engineers work for this A/E firm around the world.
Job Description:
Immediate need for a Design Lead who will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the building design by the design-build team. The Design Lead will manage the selected design team, in collaboration with internal and external design and technical consultants, and report project progress back to the DDC. Hybrid schedule, work in midtown Manhattan office 4 days/week. Once construction begins, work at the Brooklyn site 2 days/week.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all designs and systems are designed in compliance with defined project requirements.
- Support the delivery of the work packages to the required scope, quality, and cost.
- Coordinate the review of design submittals, presentations, and charrettes with internal project stakeholders.
- Manage the design review process with authorities having jurisdiction.
- Evaluate progress against scope, quality, and cost.
- Manage the multi-disciplinary design elements of the buildings, tracking designer technical performance and making appropriate technical responses.
- Coordinate subject matter expert advice.
- Provide technical design guidance and review integration of the design with other design packages.
- Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of work required by the client.
- Plan for effective project implementation and effectively contribute to the technical planning process.
- Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a relevant field of study.
- License preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working with NYC agencies.
- Previous experience working with high-rise construction.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, including managing a team.
- Strong verbal and written skills in a client-facing capacity.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
