Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare, edit, and format legal documents and correspondence such as pleadings, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements.
2. Conduct legal research and summarize case law, statutes, legal articles, and other relevant material.
3. Manage case files and documentation, ensuring all legal documents are correctly filed and accessible.
4. Coordinate and schedule meetings, court dates, and deadlines, ensuring attorneys are well-prepared and informed.
5. Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other contacts in a professional manner.
6. Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
7. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within personal injury sectors.
2. Proficient in legal research with a strong understanding of legal terminology and principles.
3. Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, clients, and external contacts.
5. High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications.
6. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. A diploma or certificate in Legal Studies or a related field is preferred.
8. Familiarity with court rules, procedures, and e-filing in state and federal courts.
9. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
