Probation's Administrative Support Clerical Unit is looking for a candidate who enjoys working in a team environment in addition to having the skill set to perform independently with limited supervision. Compensation for this position may begin at an advanced step on the Senior Legal Office Assistant salary range scale.
What You'll Do:
- Provides administrative support to the department by assisting with duties of a complex and confidential nature; acts as a liaison between the department and other staff or the public.
- Verifies and reviews forms and reports for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures; applies departmental and program policies and procedures in determining completeness of applications, records, and files.
- Provides lead direction, training, & work review to Legal Office Assistants; reviews quality of work; trains employees in work methods and processes.
- Formats a wide variety of finished documents, including both general and legal-related correspondence and documents; inputs and retrieves data, and prepares periodic and special reports.
This position will be located in one of our Adult Probation Offices.
A typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm with a 1-hour lunch or 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with a 30 minute lunch.

DEFINITION
Under general supervision, assigns, directs and reviews the work of a small legal office support staff; provides difficult, technical, confidential or specialized legal office support to various County offices; performs related work as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This class performs as either the working lead level in the legal office support series, with responsibility for providing direction to a group of legal office support staff performing similar work or functions as the specialist level, performing difficult, technical, complex or specialized legal office support duties. This is not considered a supervisory class in that the selection, evaluation and discipline of employees is normally not assigned to this level and the number of employees for which direction is provided is limited. This class is distinguished from Legal Office Services Supervisor in that the latter is the first full supervisory level over a group of legal office and related support staff.
