Overview:
The Senior Land Planner position is integral to managing and overseeing complex planning projects. This role involves leading planning studies, developing land use plans, and mentoring junior staff. The Senior Land Planner contributes to project success by building client relationships and creating innovative community development solutions.
Responsibilities:- Manage multiple high priority planning assignments, including comprehensive plan amendments, rezonings, annexations, site plans, and plats.
- Ensure compliance with local, county, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure contract compliance.
- Schedule and lead meetings with advisory boards and elected officials.
- Deliver reports and findings to staff, planning and zoning boards, commissions, and elected officials, while acting as a liaison between them.
- Lead planning studies and report development to support new or existing plans, programs, and regulations.
- Supervise the site analysis process.
- Develop initial land plan concepts based on existing site features, local codes, and regulations to meet client expectations.
- Mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support.
- Develop professional relationships with clients, public personnel, and community leaders. #LI-JR1
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in land planning.
- Strong supervisory and staff management skills.
- Proficiency in hand drafting, sketching, rendering, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and SketchUp.
- Familiarity with civil engineering principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
- Ability to work Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm with occasional overtime as needed.
