About the Job
**Some of what you'll be doing:**
As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will plan and perform a wide range of independent and objective risk-based audits to provide the Audit Committee and the Executive Director reasonable assurance that organizational controls are designed and operating effectively and efficiently.
+ You will lead and perform risk-based performance audits in accordance with professional audit standards, from the audit announcement through creation of the final audit report, covering complex and technical subject matter of departments, systems, and programs in all divisions of the Port.
+ You will communicate audit results and recommendations to stakeholders.
+ You will assist in promoting awareness and understanding of the Port's Internal Audit process, with an emphasis on the importance of internal controls and risk management though outreach, education, and engagement. You will travel to small businesses partnering with the Port to deliver onsite training and conduct monthly presentations as part of the Port's New Employee Orientation.
+ You will conduct research in emerging technologies, trends, standards, and business practices, and use knowledge to make recommendations for improvement. You will also maintain the required continuous professional education for certifications and professional auditing standards.
+ You will conduct non-audit services, consulting engagements, and special projects, as periodically requested by Internal Audit management.
+ You will provide training and support to audit team members related to audit processes, procedures, professional audit standards, and relevant computer systems and applications.
+ You will assist Internal Audit management in the development of the annual risk-based audit plan.
**Who you are:**
+ **Experienced** - You have five (5) years of experience in auditing in one or more of the following areas: accounting, finance, construction, compliance, and/or general business processes.
+ **Desired** - We hope you have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. We hope you are a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

+ **Expertise** - You have knowledge of professional auditing standards, including Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) and the Global Internal Audit Standards (IIA Red Book). Familiarity with federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Knowledge of risk management concepts of internal controls. Familiarity with electronic audit workpapers.

You also modify style and approach in response to changing environments, different perspectives, needs, or demands.
+ **Strategic & Attention to Detail** - You use good judgment and strong decision-making skills. You make independent decisions using critical- thinking. You also have strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
**What else you need to know:**
+ **Work Schedule** - Your normal work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
+ **Work Environment** - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the office and Thursday/Friday virtually.
+ **Washington State Residency Requirement** - Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
+ **Security Requirements** - As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
