About the Job:Sandy Spring Bank is recruiting for a Senior Internal Audit Manager. The Senior Internal Audit Manager is responsible for assisting with the development and execution of the annual audit plan for responsible areas of coverage. Areas of coverage may include Banking (Lending / Deposit), Finance, Enterprise Functions, Risk Management, Wealth Management, and/or Sarbanes Oxley. In addition, the Senior Internal Audit Manager contributes to continuous improvement initiatives focused on audit methodologies and processes, and technology-based tools and solutions as applicable. This position is responsible for managing and conducting internal audits and SOX testing, monitoring progress on the resolution of audit issues, and performing issue validation and continuous monitoring activities for responsible areas of coverage. The Senior Internal Audit Manager is also responsible for identifying risks and controls, developing test plans, performing audit procedures, completing audit work programs, drafting and communicating audit issues and audit reports. This role contributes to providing input to the development of various internal audit processes, and providing training, coaching and supervision to Internal Audit staff. The Senior Internal Audit Manager works independently under general direction with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assists with and drives preparation of a comprehensive risk-based, multiyear plan of audit coverage for assigned areas
- Manages multiple audit projects and assignments and produces meaningful audit reports that clearly communicate risks and core audit issues
- Contributes to the overall strategic plan, develops goals and monitors accomplishments
- Directs a variety of audit and SOX testing activities
- Develops, plans, and oversees all phases of internal audit activities, including planning, fieldwork, issue management, reporting, and continuous monitoring
- Leads a team of auditors, providing support and assistance when necessary
- Manages resource allocations for all audit activities
- Develops relationships with department and business
- Communicates effectively with business leaders and audit leaders
- Manages audits in an effective and efficient manner
- Stays current and informed of federal and state banking laws and regulations applicable to responsible areas of coverage
- Ensures work is performed in accordance with Internal Audit’s methodology and IIA standards
- Possesses strong project management, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills; makes sound decisions, exhibiting initiative and intuitive thinking
- Must be able to effectively multi-task and ensure timely delivery of various audit activities while maintaining high quality
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the Audit Director or Chief Internal Auditor
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 9 or more years progressive internal audit or examiner experience with a significant portion in the financial services industry; regional and/or large bank experience preferred
- Professional certification such as CIA, CAMS, CRM, CFE, CISA
- Thorough understanding of professional standards for internal auditing in the financial industry
- Ability to influence and effect change
- Possess business acumen and judgement
- Experience with audit management systems (AuditBoard) preferred
- Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions
- Strong oral and written communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate audit findings to all levels of management.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, staff and external contacts, and to work effectively in a professional team environment
- Self-motivated and self-directed with a “hands-on” style to lead change
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.
Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.
Must be able to travel throughout SSB footprint as needed.
