Otak, Inc. is seeking to hire a Senior Hydraulics Project Engineer to join the Water and Natural Resources team in our Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA office. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play an essential role in supporting a wide range of project initiatives, including bridge and culvert hydraulics, floodplain permitting, stream, river, and estuary restoration, and barrier removal and fish passage projects. Bring your in-depth knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, along with a solid background in hydraulic design, to our growing team!
This position may be based out of our Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA office.

What you’ll do:
- Provide technical excellence and thought leadership in the areas of bridge hydraulics scour countermeasure design, river mechanics, channel stability, sediment transport, and floodplain permitting.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
- Conduct design calculations.
- Prepare construction documents in support of transportation projects.
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Create design and permitting reports.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Prepare studies and master plans.
- Prepare technical approaches/scope, schedule, and budgets for proposals.
- Assist in assigning duties and schedules to team member.
- Mentor and evaluate team members’ work.
- Perform construction engineering and observation.
What you bring:
- Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in Water Resources or Hydraulic Engineering, or similar discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of Project Engineering experience in hydraulic engineering or related field.
- Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Adept with the application of water resources models such as HEC-RAS and SRH2D.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects with simultaneous deadlines in a multi-discipline environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and work location as well as market and business considerations.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
