Otak, Inc. is seeking to hire a Senior Hydraulics Project Engineer to join the Water and Natural Resources team in our Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA office. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play an essential role in supporting a wide range of project initiatives, including bridge and culvert hydraulics, floodplain permitting, stream, river, and estuary restoration, and barrier removal and fish passage projects. Bring your in-depth knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, along with a solid background in hydraulic design, to our growing team!

This position may be based out of our Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA office.

What you’ll do:

• Provide technical excellence and thought leadership in the areas of bridge hydraulics scour countermeasure design, river mechanics, channel stability, sediment transport, and floodplain permitting.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
• Conduct design calculations.
• Prepare construction documents in support of transportation projects.
• Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Create design and permitting reports.
• Collect and analyze data.
• Prepare studies and master plans.
• Prepare technical approaches/scope, schedule, and budgets for proposals.
• Assist in assigning duties and schedules to team member.
• Mentor and evaluate team members’ work.
• Perform construction engineering and observation.

What you bring:

• Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in Water Resources or Hydraulic Engineering, or similar discipline is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of Project Engineering experience in hydraulic engineering or related field.
• Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Adept with the application of water resources models such as HEC-RAS and SRH2D.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects with simultaneous deadlines in a multi-discipline environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
