Position Snapshot
Our Senior HR Manager will mentor employees to grow and sustain operational excellence and “zero harm” (managing risk to prevent harm to employees, property/assets, environmental, community, shareholders, or customers). You will provide expertise, creativity and initiative in planning, attracting, developing and retaining talent in the most productive and cost-efficient manner. You will serve as a “subject matter expert” in human resources practices, processes, policies and legal compliance to protect company resources, foster a positive work environment, and enhance Insteel’s reputation as a great place to work.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on, and ensures compliance with, applicable HR policies and procedures.
- Develop and lead a culture of positive employee relations, including assistance with employee activities, communications and community service.
- Provide training programs and mentors managers, supervisors, and employees to foster a positive work environment.
- Work with HO human resources team and department leadership to assess talent, build bench-strength, and develop succession plans.
- Lead recruiting efforts for HO and IEP, including coaching on candidate selection, and conducts new hire onboarding.
- Administer and communicates all aspects of the company’s benefits program for H.O. and IEP employees, including promoting the benefits of participating in the company’s 401(k) program.
- Guide managers in creating a culture of accountability where performers thrive, and poor performers quickly improve or are managed out.
- Support compliance with Insteel policies and procedures, local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and adherence to the Insteel Code of Conduct.
- Provide direction for problem solving and conflict resolution to improve working relationships.
- Represent Insteel in the communities where the H.O. and IEP teams operate to maintain a reputation as an employer of choice and an outstanding corporate citizen in its communities.
- Assist Vice President Administration and Director of HR Operations with strategic projects as requested.
- Fulfills responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Bachelor's Degree with broad knowledge of human resources, business management, extensive professional, technical or administrative training. Master’s/MBA is a plus.
- Three or more years’ of progressive human resources experience with a demonstrated ability to lead and influence others.
- Significant experience in the following: human resources in manufacturing operations; understanding of general accounting, and budgeting principles; identifying and assembling teams to drive results; understanding of business strategies; and a track record of processes and programs that achieve positive and quantifiable results.
- Experience with HRMS/HRIS/ERP would be helpful.
- SHRM or HRCI certified professional preferred but not required.
- This is not a remote work opportunity. Daily on-site presence in Mount Airy, NC is required.
