This Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist helps oversee the daily responsibilities of the human resources department. Each HR Generalist is assigned a group of employees to support through their full lifecycle of employment, including but not limited to opening job requisitions, interviewing, hiring, orientation, benefits, compliance, reporting, performance management, through terminations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Onboarding/Orientation - Point of contact and coordinator of New Employee Orientation, processing new hire documentation, complete welcome email process with managers, ensure employees complete required training, and create profile in HRIS. Provides process improvements, updates, and efficiencies to HR leadership team.
- Benefits - Educate new hires on benefit offerings, continue to support employees on generic benefits questions, Fitness Center access set up and removal, Service Awards, and Flower requests.
- Compliance - Provide professional HR leadership in areas of compliance which may include some or all of the following: annual EEO and AAP review and submission, employment verification, I-9 administration and/or audit, internal compliance audits, etc.
- Compensation - Draw salary reports to compare actual and contractual salary data, benchmarking positions as needed.
- Reporting - Create and/or maintain metric reporting in some or all of the following areas: recruitment, benefits, employee development, general HR, compensation, employee relations, terminations, etc.
- Employee Relations and Performance/Talent Management - Guide managers on Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and Progressive Discipline, make employee system changes as needed, follow up with managers bi-annually on performance review completion.
- Terminations - Responsible for completing voluntary resignation process, guiding managers through employee separations, collecting and analyzing exit interview feedback and data, be the point of contact for exiting employees.
- Internal Partners - Taking strategic partnerships within the department and among other departments within Adtran as needed to support our employees / managers. Examples of this include but are not limited to; Training, Benefits, Procurement, IT, SVP's, Payroll, Marketing, etc. Also providing technical mentorship to HR Generalist I and II.
- Vendor Partners - Engaging in conversations as necessary with established and new vendor partners as needed.
- Miscellaneous - The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for proactively updating and maintaining HR work instructions, employee handbook, and distributing mandatory notices and materials to employees. The Senior HR Generalist works with HR functional team and maintains ownership for the maintenance of HR intranet site and timely posting and removal of site information. Coordinate company parties and social events. Maintain employee files both electronic and physical.
- Projects - Provide ownership and leadership toward completion of any special projects which may be assigned. Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Indirect supervisory responsibilities are to provide guidance to management within their designated groups, and to ensure performance evaluations are completed on time each year.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in HR Management, Business Administration or related field required, or additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of demonstrated HR Generalist experience with substantial experience in leading, owning and maintaining a variety of HR processes.
- Ability to maintain the integrity of the HR function with discretion and confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrated breadth of HR expertise in 2-3 HR functional areas.
- Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- 5-10 years of experience using HRIS Systems (Workday, Oracle, etc.)
- Friendly, customer focused, team-oriented disposition.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Little to no travel is expected in this position.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR or SHRM-SCP is a plus.
- Experience in software systems; WorkDay, DocuSign, Microsoft Office Suite, SAP Concur, Udemy.
