Job Summary
The Senior Human Resources Generalist (HR Generalist) is responsible for managing daily HR functions and supporting human resource processes across all business locations. This role ensures personnel actions comply with federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining strict adherence to compliance standards. The HR Generalist provides administrative support, including record-keeping, benefits administration, file maintenance, and HRIS data entry. Success in this role requires a confident, process-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and effective communication abilities.
Essential Functions
- Assist with administrative processing and auditing duties into HRIS, Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Learning Management System (LMS) or benefits platforms.
- Maintain records of personnel-related data in both physical and electronic form
- Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests; redirect HR related inquiries or distribute correspondence to the appropriate person of the team as needed
- Assist with talent acquisition activity including but not limited to opening a requisition, sourcing, interviewing, and hiring.
- Assist with creating offers for not only new hires, but for promotions, and transfers.
- Conduct new employee orientation and assist with onboarding plan development.
- Assist in maintaining accurate job descriptions and performance management activities.
- Assist with employee engagement and retention programs.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line level management such as coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions.
- Manage basic level employee relations issues, conduct investigations, document, and develop resolutions. Escalate all advanced issues to the Director.
- Perform employee terminations at all levels and conduct exit interviews.
- Provide backup coverage to various HR teams members.
- Conducts benefits meetings and explain benefits offerings and self-enrollment process.
- Maintain employee benefits filling system(s) and ensure benefit change are entered appropriately in HRIS for deduction purposes.
- Responsible for administering all benefit enrollments, terminations, and status changes for the group of companies.
- Assist on all health and welfare audits, including required filings like the 5500, Annual 401K audit, Workers Comp claim review, 1095C’s, affordable care reporting and weekly deduction auditing etc.
- Assists the HR Director with health and welfare offerings plan design and open enrollment planning.
- Assist with preparing all leave of absence paperwork, based on the type and in accordance to any local, state or federal regulation and coordinate with HR Business Partners to ensure compliance.
- Report and process all workers compensation claims. Coordinate with HR Business Partner to ensure compliance.
- Report and maintain all OSHA Logs for all locations including the preparation of the 300A’s annually.
- Maintain general knowledge of legal requirements at all levels to ensure compliance to reduce legal risks and ensure compliance and escalate any items to The Director of HR for evaluation.
- Assist with conducting business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning, and designated acquisitions activity.
- Assist with any grant programs, from writing, apply and general administrative management of program(s).
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending regular educational trainings.
- Other duties as assigned with in a team environment.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of multiple HR disciplines, including but not limited to organizational development, compensation, benefits, training and development, employee and labor relations, and workplace safety.
- Basic knowledge of general business practices.
- Basic knowledge of general business practices and business acumen.
- Basic knowledge of relationship management and conflict resolution.
- Basic knowledge of local, state and federal requirements pertaining to health and welfare plans, leaves, workers compensation or OSHA regulations.

Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in business, Human Resources or other related degree/field.
- 2 years’ experience in a professional office experience required.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
Work Hours/Travel:
- 1st shift work schedule: 5 – 9-hour shifts (45-hour work week)
- Flexible scheduling in agreement with supervisor.
- Flexibility with supervisor approval for remote work.
- Overtime as necessary (including occasional weekends if needed)
- Flexible scheduling in agreement with manager
- Travel: local between buildings
