JOB SUMMARY
The Village of Carpentersville is seeking an experienced human resources professional for a newly created position. The Senior Human Resources Generalist must be detail-oriented, analytical, and forward thinking, and will play a pivotal role in supporting and delivering human resource services to over 200 employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement employment and benefit policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with organizational objectives and legal requirements
- Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees on employment related matters including conflict resolution, corrective action, performance improvement, and progressive discipline; assist in the investigation and resolution of employee relations issues
- Oversee the recruitment process including development of job descriptions, sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, collaborating with hiring managers to make informed hiring decisions, and onboarding
- Manage and audit employee records in the HRIS system to ensure data integrity; analyze best practices, procedures, and functional efficiencies
- Support collective bargaining through research and analysis along with other related labor relations activities; interpret contract language and monitor contract compliance
- Assist in the facilitation and/or coordination of effective training employee and supervisory development programs
- Provide support with the administration of workers' compensation and risk management programs
- Assist in the development and oversight of the department's budget
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes; make recommendations for continuous improvement

The position requires a bachelor's degree in human resource management, organizational leadership, public or business administration, psychology, or related field. Three years of progressive experience working in human resources is required, preferably in a municipal government setting.
