ABOUT THE ROLE: The Los Angeles office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, California (CAIR-LA) is looking for a passionate and talented individual to fill the Senior Human Resources Coordinator position. The Senior Human Resources Coordinator, reporting directly to the Operations Manager, plays a key role in supporting HR operational administrative functions. This includes coordinating the recruitment and onboarding process, overseeing employee leaves and accommodation, assisting with employee HR inquiries, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
- Coordinate all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Oversee employee celebrations, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives such as engagement surveys and team-building activities.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and other personnel matters.
- Support employees and managers through the performance review process.
- Coordinate workplace investigations, leave of absence requests, and accommodation processes.
- Coordinate status changes, maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files and records.
- Coordinate the semi-monthly payroll process, including reviewing timesheets and sending payroll reminders.
- Prepare job descriptions and job requisitions.
- Pre-screen applicants, conduct initial interviews, schedule follow-up interviews, verify references and prepare job offers.
- Lead recruitment initiatives, including outreach to local communities and colleges.
- Collaborate with the communications department to create and maintain social media programs to support recruitment efforts.
- Follow up on all pre-employment processes, such as background checks and educational verifications.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as requested by management.
- Assist with maintaining office safety and health standards and required employment law postings.
- Institutionalize onboarding and offboarding with best practices and materials.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- All CAIR-CA staff are required to assist in general office duties such as answering phones, outreach, fundraising, and other administrative tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in human resources, including at least 2 years overseeing talent acquisition.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field required.
- Strong knowledge of federal and California state workplace laws and regulations.
- Proficient in using an applicant tracking system and a payroll processing system.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Strong judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and records.
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects, lead initiatives, and collaborate with teams to achieve positive results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
