Purpose of Job: APCON’s Senior Hardware Engineer will design and develop complex high-speed interconnected ecosystems that are flexible and scalable. In this role, you’ll participate in the design and development of large-scale super high-speed, cutting-edge packet processors and packet switches. This individual will help by providing hands-on technical support to the engineering department. APCON’s Senior Hardware Engineers own a project from its inception through the final build on the manufacturing floor. As the owner, you will have the opportunity to work closely with various teams throughout the project development. As well as design all elements which include architecture, block diagram decisions, schematic capture, and board bring-up.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Hands-On technical functions in support of the engineering department
- Designs and develops 100G - 400G network switch solutions from concept through production
- Participates in technical reviews of product requirements
- Design schematic
- Oversees PCB layout
- Performs board bring-up and design verification
- Works closely with software engineers to optimize design and debug products
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in training and experience
- 10 years’ hardware development experience in a communications-related product design
- Experience in ethernet, switches, and networking
- Experience using schematic/ layout tools (Cadence Or CAD)
- Knowledge of PCB technology, stack-up development, and highspeed layout considerations

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree and/ or the equivalent experience

Physical Requirements:
- Talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, crouching, crawling, kneeling, and/ or climbing stairs. Reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, using hands to feel or handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate tools, vehicles, and various pieces of equipment.
- Exposure to noise, dust, vibrations, fumes, and chemicals.
- May frequently lift and/ or move items between 10 and 50 pounds (with assistance).
