The Senior Graphic Artist is primarily responsible for the revision of existing program materials and text layout and graphic design of new program materials to meet customer needs using Adobe Creative Suite software, primarily InDesign. He/she will be proofing and editing program materials, coordinating project logistics with printing vendor, team members and clients. The Senior Graphic Artist is also responsible for maintaining data in internal systems to ensure accuracy and completeness and maintaining material file integrity and quality. While finalizing materials, the Senior Graphic Artist will often suggest improvements and modify formats to increase the quality of deliverables, ensure that standards are met, and ensure that the final product exceeds the client's expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deeper understanding of print capabilities - expert at working with vendors, internal and external.
- More awareness of design as it pertains to our work - more reflection and autonomous thought
- Better able to assist with scoping, pricing, timeline details
- Seeks review and feedback of their work from more senior designers on the team
- Increased ability to better conceptualize, design, and organize projects
- Operate Adobe and Microsoft software to design, layout, and produce production-ready or final presentation materials (Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Position text and art elements in a visually appealing way to design print or web pages
- Learns programs and products to be able to knowledgably edit and revise materials
- Assures quality control for all deliverables
- Applies branding standards to materials consistently across the range of all deliverables.
- Coordinates workflow and timelines regarding the various aspects of a product development project
- Maintains accurate information in the company's project tracking systems: PSA and SharePoint
- Ensures complete and accurate information regarding file naming, version numbers, and materials lists
- Comfortable seeking out appropriate resources to brainstorm and problem-solve when obstacles arise
- Occasionally proofs and edits own and other team members' writing to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Ability to think outside the box to offer ideas above and beyond the status quo
- Strong proficiency in software programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Thorough knowledge of standard rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation and appropriate word usage
- Ability to work quickly under tight deadlines
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to support the client team on weekends if needed (occasionally)
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals in a range of roles-both inside and outside the company
- Minimum 4 years' experience in layout and graphic arts in a professional setting
