We are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Springfield, MO team.
Responsibilities may include:
- Manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Prepare proposals, contracts, and project documentation in collaboration with the project team.
- Analyze geotechnical engineering boring logs and other data to assess subsurface conditions and provide recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earthwork.
- Conduct geotechnical calculations using industry-standard software and engineering principles to determine soil and rock properties, bearing capacities, settlement analyses, and other geotechnical parameters.
- Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing geotechnical findings, assessments, and recommendations for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Oversee drilling equipment operations and geotechnical laboratory testing to ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
- Perform field logging, inspections, and investigations to evaluate site conditions, conduct soil and rock sampling, and assess construction activities.
- Maintain regular communication with the Drilling Manager to coordinate field drilling activities and provide technical guidance as needed.
- Collaborate with the Construction Testing Manager for geotechnical projects that transition into the construction phase, ensuring compliance with geotechnical specifications and requirements.
- Participate in activities requiring the application of geotechnical engineering principles and techniques, providing technical support and expertise to the project team.
- Work effectively in both office and field environments, adapting to various weather conditions and physical demands of outdoor drilling sites.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Active PE license
- 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong foundation in geotechnical analysis, calculations, and report writing.
- Knowledge of geotechnical drilling techniques, including soil sampling, rock coring, groundwater measurements, and planning geotechnical explorations.
- Self-motivated with a strong focus on maintaining positive client relations and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, taking direction from Project Engineers or Department Managers, while also demonstrating independent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to clients, stakeholders, and project team members.
- Client service and business development oriented, with a focus on building strong relationships and identifying opportunities for future projects.
- Valid and clean motor vehicle license, as regular travel to project sites may be required.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and physical examination in compliance with company policies.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed and perform heavy lifting, if required to assist the drill crew.
