Overview
Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Biologist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID, Division of Intramural Research (DIR), Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML).
Responsibilities
- Perform protein- and whole transcriptome-based spatial profiling, work on spatial profiling projects, execute the sample processing pipeline in coordination with the RTB teams.
- Provide support for project management and coordination between multiple groups in transdisciplinary scientific approaches.
- Perform laboratory techniques such as light microscopy, genomics technology, and/or digital pathology as applied to biological systems.
- Process and optimization immunolabelling conditions of formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded and/or fresh frozen (cryostat) tissues.
- Provide support in a core facility, including providing consultations to investigators and assisting with experimental design.
- Provide maintenance of commercial microscopes and/or sequencing instrumentation, including working closely with commercial vendors to troubleshoot issues with instrumentation.
- Serve as POC and participate in joint meetings with other spatial profiling team members across NIAID, NCI, as well as commercial vendors.
Experience Required / Requirements
- Minimum Master’s Degree (or Ph.D. – not required).
- Minimum of four (4) years of work experience.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment with co-workers.
- Good record keeping and organizational skills.
- Experience in spatial profiling techniques such as NanoString GeoMx DSP or 10X Visium would be an advantage but not required.
- Work location: Rocky Mountain Laboratory (RML), Montana
