Senior Formulation Chemist at Atrium

Our client is a cosmetic contract manufacturing organization. They are seeking a Senior Formulation Chemist to join their team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$100,000 – $125,000 depending on experience

Position Overview:

This company is seeking a Senior Formulation Chemist with an extensive background in cosmetic formulations, particularly skincare. The Senior Formulation Chemist should have a background in developing new cosmetic innovations, formulating from scratch across multiple categories, and making recommendations for new product development. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable of new industry trends, researching and collecting market data to help with creating new innovative formulas.

Responsibilities of the Senior Formulation Chemist:

• Spearhead the inception of project concepts, crafting objectives and tactically planning and prioritizing tasks for the seamless execution of multiple projects with minimal oversight
• Oversee the scaling-up of approved formulations, with a keen focus on identifying critical process variables
• Troubleshoot production challenges, addressing batch variations, and ensuring consistent product quality
• Establish precise product specifications and develop compounding procedures to guide production processes
• Compile documentation for new formulas and raw materials, facilitating their smooth integration into operations
• Independently tackle research challenges and scale-up issues to ensure the fluid progression of projects
• Engage with customers, addressing queries on technical, regulatory, and performance aspects
• Ensure strict compliance with legal requirements, regulations, and product development standards throughout the project lifecycle
• Innovate and implement strategies for cost reduction, particularly focusing on optimizing raw material expenses
• Conduct comprehensive research on product formulations, exploring properties and interactions of raw materials
• Research and identify potential vendors for raw materials, maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the market

Qualifications for the Senior Formulation Chemist:

• 6 to 8 years experience formulating cosmetic products, particularly for skincare
• Ability to manage multiple products in a fast paced environment
• Ideally experience in a contract manufacturing organization
• Strong industry knowledge with a passion for research and discovery

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science or similar field is required
