Job Description:
The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst will report to the VP of Finance, Treasury, and Accounting, and will be responsible for overseeing bank accounts used for student and consumer loan originations, executing loan transactions, and reporting on loan facilities. The Sr. Analyst will have responsibilities related to Ascent’s student and consumer loan products.
This role has significant growth potential for a candidate who excels at process-improvement and can connect the dots between lending, capital markets, and financial reporting.
This is a multi-faced position that works closely with different business units including Accounting, Loan Operations, Data Engineering, and Finance. The position requires strict attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and reconcile bank accounts used for student and consumer loan originations. Work with internal and originating bank partners to resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly investor reporting to investment banks, warehouse lenders, forward flow buyers, and securitizations.
- Ensure scheduled and ad-hoc reporting has the appropriate level of quality control.
- Reconcile loan servicing data, transaction documents, and cash remittances.
- Work with the internal Data Engineering team to streamline data flows and automate reporting.
- Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and contribute to special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of treasury, capital markets, or accounting experience.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts to achieve a positive outcome.
- Ability to work independently in a team environment without close supervision.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as attentiveness to details and a commitment to follow up.
- Ability to effectively manage several tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Willingness/ability to work extra hours when faced with tight deadlines.
- Candidate must reside in the United States to be considered for this position.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with student or consumer loans.
- SQL or other experience working with large datasets.
- Experience with consumer loan securitizations or asset-backed lending.
- Advanced degree, CPA, or other relevant certification.
