Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and producing internal and external Greif Financial reports in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Completes the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation and closing activities, including the execution of appropriate internal controls
- Performs financial analysis of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial results.
- Preparer of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information distributed to management.
- Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports filed with the SEC. Specifically, Form 10-Q, 10-K, 11-K and 8-K.
- Assists in the preparation of Greif’s quarterly earnings release, conference calls and other investor presentations.
- Emphasis on process improvement and effectiveness within the Greif external reporting group.
- Supports research and drafting of accounting memos for new or complex accounting topics such as business combinations, foreign currency matters, and impairments.
- Documents and puts into practice new generally accepted accounting principles.
- Participates in research and drafting of standard internal accounting policies and procedures.
- Supports the schedules and requests of external auditors.
- Supports execution of management’s oversight of internal control over financial reporting.
- Interacts with other functional areas within the company, which includes: assisting with the accounting review of complex legal entity transactions, performing technical accounting research, and resolving other accounting inquiries.
- Acts as a point of contact for one or more of Greif's Global Strategic Business Units.
- Supports compliance with managements internal control framework under Sarbanes-Oxley, including assisting business units with design and implementation of key controls, monitoring compliance and evaluating deficiencies.
- Assists in the preparation of Greif employee benefit plan financial statements filed with the SEC and Department of Labor.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA or actively pursuing
Work Experience
- 2-3 years accounting experience
- Big Four SEC Auditing or Multi-national SEC Reporting experience a plus
- SOX experience a plus
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a hybrid team environment
- Strong computer skills required particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Oracle Cloud and Workiva a plus
- Familiarity with US GAAP, SOX and quarterly SEC filing requirements
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently is a must
