Job Summary:
Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is looking for a full-time Senior Financial Planner & Analyst to join our Finance team! As the Senior Financial Planner & Analyst, you will be providing direct support to the CFO, Controller, Business Office Manager, and HR Manager. This is a contribution role which works with sensitive, highly complex, and varied data. The role requires strong data extraction, manipulation, and analytical skills, and attention to output and reporting details. The primary work products for the role are recurring and ad hoc financial analyses and reports, and documented, approved procedures.
This individual must have a strong understanding of business processes, profit/cost center operations and reporting, and know how to interpret and explain financial statements and reports. The role is responsible for selection, compilation, rationalization, analysis, reporting and presentation of operational and financial data from a variety of sources. They convert and interpret data into intuitive, actionable insights and information.
Must be located in the Boulder Colorado area as Hybrid schedule requires regular in office days.
Job Duties:
- Works closely with the IT team to understand, interpret and apply data structures and elements to financial analyses. Provides input to the IT team regarding additional data required for financial analyses and reporting.
- Works closely with the revenue cycle team to provide input, analysis, and reporting on process improvement projects.
- Completes ad hoc analytical research, including data extraction and manipulation via SQL and Excel. Compiles and rationalizes data from disparate sources, ensures data consistency and integrity for analyses and reporting.
- Prepares analyses and reports which include financial (e.g., revenue and expense) and corresponding operational data for trending and benchmarking.
- Collects and compiles internal financial and operational data for submission to external parties, including MGMA, AMGA, government agencies, and strategic partners.
- Collects, compiles, and organizes data from external parties, including MGMA, AMGA, and strategic partners for reference in internal analyses.
- Develops ad hoc financial models and sensitivity analyses in conjunction with stakeholders to clarify common understanding of inputs, causal relationships, and prospective results of strategic initiatives. Works with IT team to automate recurring analyses and reports of adopted financial models.
- Develops ad hoc and recurring (e.g., templates) financial and operational performance reports for executive leadership team. Briefs executive team on financial and operational performance in conjunction with other Finance team leaders.
- Structures analyses to facilitate review, audit and validation of source data, applied logic and sequence, and resulting outputs, and maintains appropriate notation to facilitate such reviews and audits.
- Streamlines analytical workflow processes to improve accuracy, efficiency and timeliness of financial analyses and reports.
- Completes due diligence, including recast and pro forma sensitivity analyses, of prospective physicians considering joining the Boulder Medical Center system.
- Assists in the annual budgeting process; collaborates with finance and operational stakeholders to develop and finalize the clinical volumes and net patient revenue budget.
- Supports finance and administrative team members in developing or editing custom data extracts as needed.
- Provides input to establish or revise policies and procedures to improve the accuracy, efficiency and timeliness of Finance team work product.
- Reviews accuracy of financial statements, specifically ancillary and G&A statements.
- Collaborates with team members to document finance and accounting procedures in a standardized format and ensures appropriate controls are incorporated in such procedures. Maintains an index of documented procedures.
- Completes or supervises internal audits of documented procedures and controls. Reports on results of such audits.
- Other FP&A duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
- Must use above average judgment, planning and initiative in evaluating, analyzing, and coordinating the accounting policies and procedures, as required to ensure accuracy in the overall financial picture.
- Intermediate SQL authoring, editing, and auditing of scripts for data extraction.
- Expert Excel authoring, editing, and auditing skills. Proficient developing reports and charts.
- Experienced with enterprise accounting applications, e.g. Great Plains, QuickBooks, etc.
- Experience with Epic required
- Familiar and fluent with GAAP.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Diligent and detail-oriented; ability to work in a sometimes stressful but supportive learning environment.
- Strong verbal, written, and visual (e.g., charts, tables, etc.) communication skills; able to explain complex issues. Good listener.

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other comparable discipline.
Previous Experience:
- 5 years or more progressive FP&A experience. Experience working with medical groups required.
Salary Range:
- $93,000 - $115,000/annually; depending on experience
This position will be posted for a minimum of three days, subsequently until filled.
