About the Job
Under the direction of the SVP/Risk, conducts investigations into potential fraud situations; administering and monitoring compliance with BSA, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), USA Patriot Act's Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Responsibilities:
- Administers the Credit Union's compliance management program for policies, procedures, laws, regulations and rules governing BSA/AML and OFAC.
- Analyzes and investigates suspicious activity and fraud situations, such as those identified via fraud/risk management software, staff in other business areas, and in response to 314(a) and 314(b) notifications.
- Investigates questionable account activities (e.g., suspicious checks, kiting, forgeries, counterfeits, and electronic transactions), recommending hold, limits, and restrictions on accounts and transactions.
- Collaborates with regulatory agencies, law enforcement organizations, and other financial institutions in conducting investigations, and in providing legal support with cases, hearings, and trials.
- Conducts ongoing reviews, monitoring, and analysis of various reports, logs, and transaction data to identify suspicious trends, unusual activity, and unusual currency activity. Completes suspicious activity reports (SARs).
- Serves as the Credit Union's point of contact for 314(a) and 314(b) information exchanges.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives in optimizing business goals and minimizing fraud losses.
- Maintains subject matter expertise of the BSA and all related AML and OFAC regulations, along with the Credit Union's policies and procedures.
- Prepares BSA Committee and SAR Committee agendas, records meeting minutes, and coordinates tracking of action items.
- Completes the BSA's Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and USA Patriot Act Customer Identification Program (CIP) reviews for new and existing members and/or accounts. Conducts enhanced due diligence (EDD) reviews and/or investigations.
- Assists with secondary or quality control reviews for all BSA/AML, OFAC, and related activities.
- Supports coordination of, and responses to, audits, examinations, risk assessments, committee meetings, and applicable employee training.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 4-6 years' experience with BSA/AML and OFAC compliance, internal audit, risk management, or related activities
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), or equivalent certification, strongly preferred
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
