SUMMARY:
Reporting to the VP, Strategic Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting with the development, design, and maintenance of reporting systems for business and finance operations. Responsibilities include detailed financial analysis, preparation and maintenance of the operating budget, support of the monthly financial reporting process, monthly variance analysis, database queries, and preparation of business reports and dashboards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate consolidated, company, and business unit financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with prior periods and budget, including analysis of key financial and performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain financial reports using the Company’s selected accounting software (i.e. Sage Intacct)
- Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of monthly financial and operational dashboards.
- Participate in the development of the annual operating and capital budgets and any periodic revisions necessary; participate in forecast preparation as required.
- Assist with the development of long-term financial and operational plans.
- Prepare and manage the monthly revenue analyses and budget comparisons.
- Prepare monthly medical costs analyses and budget comparisons.
- Provide support with requests related to internal and external audits and regulatory reviews.
- Provide a high level of assurance related to the quality of data presented internally and externally of the organization.
- Create ad-hoc reports and analysis when requested.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Possess an excellent understanding of healthcare economics and medical group clinical, financial, and business operations.
- Knowledge and experience in performing complex data analysis and preparing reports.
- Knowledge of practice management and electronic health record (EHR) systems; prior experience with Epic, Athena, eCW, and AdvancedMD preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting/financial principles and methodologies
- Working knowledge and experience in preparing budgets and projections
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, including the ability to effectively assess and manage priorities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare financial analysis and budgeting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and other data analytics / business intelligence tools.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Sitting, talking, hearing and near vision are required over 90% of the time, while walking is required frequently throughout the day. Standing is required over 10% of the time. Feeling is required 90% of the time and reaching is required about 50% of the time. Bending, twisting, and climbing are required, as in far vision, but only for 10% or less of the time. The ability to travel to field sites may be required up to 25% of the time.
